Safe Spaces for Women and Girls Project
Safe Spaces for Women and Girls project aims to establish safe spaces for refugee women and girls and to provide them with healthcare services in collaboration with Health Ministry of Turkish Republic and United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) with the financial support of European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO).
In this direction, Women’s Healthcare Counselling Centers are founded in İstanbul Zeytinburnu, Bursa Osmangazi and İzmir Bornova, where individual- and group-counselling sessions on sexual health and reproductive health are provided. In addition to these, activities on raising awareness of gender-based violence, psychosocial support for GBVS women and trainings on prevention of violence through women’s empowerment are organized. Activities for the children coming to the center with their mothers are organized and aid kits provided by UNFPA are distributed to the beneficiaries. The activities are held by the full-time present psychologists, healthcare instructors, social workers and healthcare mediators.
