Refugee Support Association (MUDEM) and United Nations Women's Unit (UN Women) organized an event called "Speak Up Against Violence Against Women" in Izmir as part of the "16-Day Activism Campaign Against Gender-Based Violence".
In the event, where participants from different cultures united under the slogan "Be a firefly, light up the darkness", women took a ferry and whistled along the Kordon, and raised their voices against violence against women with their orange scarves and hats.
In the event organized within the scope of the project "Strengthening the Social and Economic Stability and Resilience of Syrian Women and Young Girls" supported by the Government of Japan, the Izmir-Konak Municipality Neighborhood Center and the women benefiting from the services of the MUDEM Women's Solidarity Center operating within the scope of our project came together for the first time. The Women's Solidarity Center offers protection services, psycho-social support, language courses, vocational courses, empowerment programs and livelihood activities to Turkish and refugee women.
